Shoulder/Back trouble

A little over 3 weeks ago I started getting pain in my right shoulder/back. The pain goes from between my right shoulder blade and spine up to my neck and often it travels down my right arm to the forearm. It just seemed to show up one day. It's not a pain from any particular stress on the shoulder, most of the time it hurts from simply standing, walking, or sitting in the car.

After a week of suffering I broke down and went to the chiro. He tells me I have a strained rib muscle and performs a basic treatment/adjustment. Sends me home and tells me to do a certain back exercise a couple of times a day. What a waste of $55.

A little background: I really doubt my workstation is to blame (first thing mr. chiro wanted to blame). I don't sit here for more than 20 mins. at a time without getting up and moving around. My keyboard/mouse situation is not likely the casue. I don't feel sore or strained at the puter.

Today is two weeks after that appointment and I am still hurting with just a slight bit of improvement, but it gets worse. This whole time I have continued to workout because I can. The problem is now my right side is only 75% in strength. Like I said, it doesn't hurt to lift, but my right side has given out. Bench press and skull crushers are the worst.

Has anyone experienced something like this? How long did it take for you to recover? I don't know what to do. Should I see a sports medicine doctor?

This is my first experience with anything resembling chronic pain. What an eye opener.

Sounds like a pinched nerve. Normal recovery time is six weeks.

Any stress. I get those pains when stressed out. A few days of muscle stimulation and exercise usually takes care of it.
